The OSD for this institute is Reena Kaushal Dharmshaktu , who is leading the administration and designing the outdoor programs .

She has over 20 years of experience in adventure and outdoor education . She did all her mountaineering training from Himalayan Mountaineering Institute , Darjeeling . Subsequently she trained in National Outdoor Leadership School , USA and worked there too . NOLS is considered a leader in Outdoor Education . She has worked in many other Adventure outfits based in India and abroad . 

It is her unquenchable quest for adventure and outdoor education  that has brought her to PNSSMTI . She wants to impart her valuable experience to those who come here to train and be trained . 

She has climed in many parts of the Himalayas – Ladhak , Uttarakhand , Himachal Pradesh , Sikkim .

Among the peaks she has climbed are Gangotri 1 , Fluted Peak , Unnamed and unclimbed peaks in Uttarakhand , First Ascent of Argan Kangri , Sri Kailash , Phawararang , Phalut , Frey Peak  etc.

She has cycled from Calcutta to Kanyakumari 

She is the First Indian woman to ski from the coast of Antarctica to South Pole covering a distance of 900 kms and taking 38 days . 

For her accomplishments she has been awarded the “Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award “ in 2010 by the President of India .




About Munsyari


 Munsyari (2200Mt)

Its name refers to a 'place with snow'. Situated on the banks of Goriganga river, it is a fast-growing tourist destination, and mountaineers, glacier enthusiasts, high altitude trekkers and nature lovers commonly use it as their hub or base camp. Munsyari also falls on the ancient salt route from Tibet and is at the entrance of the Johar Valley, which extends along the path of the Goriganga River to its source at the Milam Glacier. It is inhabited mainly by the Shauka tribe. The town is surrounded by snow-capped peaks, with a key attraction being the trekking route to Khalia Top. Another must visit place is Pangti museum where Dr. Pangti has retained the artifatcs, books on history and culture of Kumaoun.
